Interventional Radiologist Woodward Returns to VISTA Radiology. KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- Board certified vascular/interventional radiologist Keith Woodward, M.D., of Vista Radiology, Knoxville, has completed an Interventional Neurovascular radiology fellowship at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, as one of only 300 U.S. physicians trained Interventional Neuroradiology, and the only Interventional Neuroradiologist in the Knoxville area.

Dr. Woodward brings new innovative technologies and procedures to Knoxville area patients suffering from brain aneurysms, vascular malformations and strokes.

According to Woodward, traditional treatment of many aneurysms has been craniotomy (surgery to open the skull and place a metal clip across the aneurysm). Interventional Neuroradiologists, like Dr. Woodward, employ a new less invasive procedure called ‘aneurysm coiling’ to treat aneurysms. During this procedure tiny coils are placed inside the aneurysm, producing results similar to traditional treatments without the risks of invasive surgery.

Dr. Woodward also performs carotid artery stenting and other intra-arterial procedures to treat or prevent strokes. Carotid artery stenting is the placement of an expandable stent inside the diseased carotid artery to restore normal blood flow. This procedure is less invasive than carotid endarterectomy, the traditional surgical treatment for carotid stenosis.

Dr. Britton Keith Woodward received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis and he received his radiology training at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He completed his peripheral vascular interventional radiology fellowship at Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute.

Vista Radiology provides non-surgical, minimally invasive and endovascular treatments for other diseases, such as radiofrequency ablation of cancer tumors (RFA), treatment of peripheral vascular disease (PVD), and embolization of uterine fibroids (UFE). Established over 40 years ago as Fort Sanders Radiology, they are the largest and most sub-specialized radiology practice in the Knoxville area. With 23 Board Certified radiologists, Vista Radiology is uniquely positioned to provide East Tennessee with the highest available level of radiology expertise.
